Well it's been a few months since I updated this because I'm bad at life.
First and foremost, I got married! Just past the three month mark, and it couldn't be better. We're saving up for our honeymoon in May. Naturally none of the pictures from the photographer are in my grubby little hands yet, but I'm sure I'll get around to posting them eventually.
Secondly, I just started a new job. I'm now the lead technical writer for a small energy firm here in Milwaukee. It's going to be a challenge to get everything under control but it's going to be a fun challenge. I've got a lot of plans I want to enact and I've been given the green light to tackle them.
I'm enjoying the culture a lot. I feel like I fit in here. During salary negotiations, I stated I needed the two weeks off in May for my honeymoon. My new boss said with a smile, "I'll give you the two weeks off so long as you bring back the maximum amount of Irish Whiskey you're allowed to carry in a checked bag." Hilarious. Employees are also encouraged to use open source software and formats whenever possible. Half the office runs Mac, and a good chunk of the engineers use Debian or CentOS. I've already had quite a few good conversations with them about it.
Anyway, that's the update. Back to the grind.
